18 yo Charged With Murder – Due To His Twitter Account!
An 18-year-old man was charged with vehicular manslaughter after driving 83mph in a 40mph zone, and hitting two people on bicycles, killing one. (That’s 133km/hr in a 65km/hr zone)
Prosecutors later upgraded the charge to murder. They did this because of his driving record, and his Twitter feed.
Yes, you heard that right.
His tweets include things like “Drive fast live young” and inviting followers to join him on a “death ride”. This factored into the decision to upgrade the charges against him.
Yet another reminder about your social media usage. Never share anything that:
- you wouldn’t want your mother to see
- you wouldn’t want your spouse/partner to see
- you wouldn’t want the police to see
- can and will be used against you in a court of law
- can and will be used against you in the court of public opinion
