Hope all is well and these storms, floods and fires haven’t been a problem.
- Queensland and NSW have been (and continues to be) hammered by the high winds and rain of ex-cyclone Oswald.
- Our clients in Tasmania were recently affected by the bushfires that spread throughout the state.
- Brisbane is heading for river rises right now.
Your customers/clients assume the worst and when they hear, for example, of “Flooding on the Gold Coast” they’ll cancel their bookings or not call into your business or use someone else because they assume you won’t be open for business.
What To Do Right Now
The best thing to do right now is contact your customers/clients and assure them all is well and that you’re open for business as usual via an:
- blog post
- web site update
- Facebook post
- Twitter post
Keep The Message Simple
Keep your message simple, something like this is just fine:
“Well, that was a bit of a deluge! We’ve had some pretty wild weather on the weekend, but today has dawned and it’s warm with no rain and hardly a breath of wind.
We’re open for business as usual, along with 99% of other business.
The media are really pushing the flooding angle, but it’s all good here. Some areas north/south/wherever have been hard hit and our fingers and toes are crossed for their safety.”
Of course, if you have been adversely affected, let customers/clients know that too.
(Here’s what I suggested when a local store was the scene of an explosion.)
Hope that helps and hope all is well and safe for you and yours.
