To say Google is changing things up a bit is like saying the Titanic was a small boating mishap.
The fundamental way Google works is changing, and it’s changing fast.

This is not your typical algorithm change – we’re talking about changes to the search system.
The idea is to improve on conversational syntax/style. So more consideration will be given to the meaning of the words you search for.
Consideration will also be given to who is doing the search. You and I will get different results, because the query runs in context of what Google knows about you.
This means that your strategy has to shift. Instead of trying to rank #1 for particular terms, it’s better to try to build a topical authority around a page and site.
- Create high quality, useful content (including in-depth articles) to delivery meaningful value to audience. You can measure success by how much time a visitor spends on your pages, and what they share on social media.
- Create a website with a top-notch user experience. Factors include design, load-time, ease of navigation, etc.
- Create a sterling reputation that people talk about in the press, on blogs, and on social web.
- Engage with your audience through comments, guest posting, and social interaction.
- Establish your identity as an authority on this topic.
- Connect your content to your G+ via authorship markup
What this means is that being # 1 in Google for a particular search term is different – your search results will be different to mine and mine will be different to the next guy.
It’s all about a quality site and quality content.
